Jutta Koether: Fresh Aufhebung
untilJutta Koether’s video “Fresh Aufhebung” (2004) belongs to the larger installation of the same name—consisting of 170 paintings in identical formats—on view as part of the exhibition “Forever Young – 10 Years Museum Brandhorst.” In a separate room, the dense arrangement of paintings is almost overwhelming in terms of variety and intensity. By contrast, the video presents each work individually, one after the other in a calm sequence, allowing viewers to perceive the rhythm of their creation—over the course of a year, but never more than one painting per day.
