Description

In just a few years, the Brandhorst Collection has grown to become an important and extensive collection of contemporary art. The current presentation offers insights into its development. It is conceived as a series of modules that revolve around specific themes, historical events, and individual artists: for example, the relationship between painting and protest, or monographic presentations of the works of Alex Katz, Pope.L, Kara Walker and Andy Warhol. Classics from the collection are combined with more recent acquisitions. The tour provides an overview of the exhibition based on selected works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jana Euler, Jacqueline Humphries, Mike Kelley, Louise Lawler and Bruce Nauman, among others.
