Description
How obsessed is our society with the idea of being happy, asks Nicole Eisenman. In her group pictures, she critically examines the consequences of the development from Bush Jr. to Donald Trump. She observes the ambivalent mechanisms of coexisting and getting along and maintains an affectionate eye for people that does not denounce and embarrass, but remains ambiguous and humorous. Her group portraits speak of both affection and distance. We follow Eisenman in this tour through threatened cities and landscapes, through studios and bedrooms, to dinner parties and Brooklyn beer gardens. Who is reflected in these figures, where would our place be?
Our themed tours invite visitors to explore together particular aspects of our exhibitions or individual artistic practice. They provide an inspiring start to every Thursday evening and enable exchange and dialog among an interesting group of people.
