Young Night: 27 June 2025

The Young Night of the Museum Brandhorst opens the Kunstareal-Fest on June 27, 2025. The festival runs until midnight with free admission and offers art, talks, music, sound performances, workshops, visuals, food & drinks and much more. In cooperation with the program “Sound and Experiment”, Academy of Fine Arts Munich, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN – CineYou. Liquid Rhythms featuring Blitz Club.

On stage feat. by Liquid Rhythms

From 5 p.m. to midnight there will be plenty to listen to while visiting the museum. Sound and Experiment, Akademie der Bildenden Künste, has created a series of performances, audio works, and concerts in relation to the exhibition „Five Friends: John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly“. They have also invited some very special guests.

Whether on the lawn at sunset or in the galleries while engaging with the art, you can listen to various different artists. A special sundowner in the middle of the Kunstareal! And the beat goes on after midnight with the afterparty in the Blitz Club.

Open House

Get to know the diversity of the art of John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Cy Twombly! Stroll through the “Five Friends” exhibition. Exchange ideas and get creative yourself. From screen printing to a dance workshop, from conversations about art in the gallery to a relaxed chat on a picnic blanket with sounds and visuals: There is something for everyone!

Moving Collages – visual resonances to “Five Friends”

 

Video clips, images and words combine to create vivid collages, tearing cracks in the surface and revealing the layers beneath. Students of the creative editing course, HFF Munich, together with their professor Beatrice Babin, let themselves be inspired by the “Five Friends” exhibition.

 

In a unique live setting, visuals are created that will be simultaneously mixed and animated by three to five people and projected directly onto the walls of the museum – a fleeting interplay of image, movement and imagination.

Young art experts present their favorite works

The young people in the pi.lot project will introduce you to their favorite works and invite you to talk to them. Find out what fascinates them and what exciting details they have discovered. During a week of seminars, the pi.lot project offers pupils aged 14 and over who are interested in art the opportunity to study originals in the Alte Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst in depth – with the aim of developing an individual presentation.
