Young Night

Museum Brandhorst’s Young Night takes place every year on the last Friday in June. The festival runs until midnight with free admission and offers art, dialog, music, sound performances, workshops, visuals, food & drinks, and much more. In cooperation with FILMFEST MÜNCHEN – CineYou, Blitz Club and Ciné Vélo Cité.

ART, DIALOG, MUSIC, VISUALS, WORKSHOPS, FOOD & DRINKS, SUN LOUNGERS AND RIGHT AT THE CENTER: YOU!

On stage

Whether on the lawn at sunset or inside the galleries engaging with the art, you can listen to various artists. A special sundowner in the middle of the Kunstareal! Created in collaboration with the Blitz Club, the lineup draws directly on the themes of the current exhibitions, making the diversity and many voices of contemporary art visible—and audible—in public space through music. And the beat goes on after midnight with the party in the Blitz Club.

Open House

Stroll through the exhibitions and discover the diversity of contemporary art! Exchange ideas and get creative yourself. From screen printing to dance workshops, from gallery conversations to laid-back hangouts on picnic blankets with sounds and visuals: There is something for everyone!

Moving Collages – visual resonances

During the Young Night, the mobile bicycle cinema and film lab Ciné Vélo Cité will host a workshop station in collaboration with the Munich International Film Festival, where people of all ages can try their hand at filmmaking.

As night falls, artist Su Steinmaßl will project the resulting footage onto the exterior wall of the Pinakothek der Moderne.

Carrying

Young Night is all about the current exhibition “Carrying.” This exhibition project with its accompanying events activates various spaces inside and outside Museum Brandhorst. Architectural interventions, performances, and paintings, as well as sound and filmic works, engage with the museum and explore the entanglement of military and cultural power. Discover the exhibition through music, talks, and workshops!

Young art experts present their favorite works

The young people in the pi.lot project will introduce you to their favorite works and invite you to talk to them. Find out what fascinates them and what exciting details they have discovered. During a week of seminars, the pi.lot project offers pupils aged 14 and over who are interested in art the opportunity to study originals in the Alte Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne and Museum Brandhorst in depth – with the aim of developing an individual presentation.
