Maria VMier
Information about the person
Maria VMier (*1975) is an artist and publisher. She lives in Munich. She studied painting and sculpture in Vienna and Munich, respectively, during which time she founded Hammann von Mier Verlag for artists’ book. VMier’s practice encompasses large-format paintings that emerge from pleasurable writing movements and Safer Spaces for collaborative exchange. Her work has been shown widely, most recently in a solo exhibition at BOAN Art Space in Seoul, and she has participated in exhibitions at Lenbachhaus Munich, Spike Berlin, Metropolitan Structures NYC, and Haus der Kunst. In 2020 she received the Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst of the city of Munich. Maria VMier is a founding member of the artist-run space Ruine München (since 2017) and currently on the committee of the urban art space FLORIDA Lothringer 13.
