Themed Tour I The Dark Side of Pop Art

Key data

Content of the tour

The Pop art artists, especially Andy Warhol, glorified the icons of pop culture and were the first to show consumer goods and the products of the mass media in art. At the same time, their works also addressed the downside of capitalism and consumer culture, such as the obsession with surfaces. The tour shows how Pop art could be a phenomenon of both mass culture and subculture, and how its strategies still influences artists to this day.

Registration and cancellation

Please note that tour requests can only be processed if a lead time of two weeks is observed. The booking of a guided tour is binding. We will forward your request to a team of independent art mediators. We will provide you with a guide who will act on their own account. Cancellations must be made directly to the guide at least three working days before the agreed start of the tour. Otherwise, the guides reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.

Note for school classes

In addition to the 90-minute guided tours, school classes only have the option of booking short tours (60 minutes). Please indicate the desired topic (similar to the regular booking topics) in the comments field. We would like to point out that these are standard guided tours and not offers specially tailored to the target group of young people / schools. The Bavarian Museum Education Center offers guided tours and workshops for children and school groups.
