Content of the tour

Discover what lies behind Museum Brandhorst’s spectacular façade design with its 36,000 colorful ceramic rods. Our overview tour takes you on an exciting tour through the museum and its history. You will learn more about the architecture of Sauerbruch Hutton, who designed the building which opened in 2009, but also about the Brandhorst Collection and how it was founded and developed. A highlight of the visit is the impressive room that was specially designed for the twelve-part “Lepanto” cycle created in 2001 by Cy Twombly (1928-2011). Our experienced guides will also show you selected works from the collection presentation.

Registration and cancellation

Please note that tour requests can only be processed if a lead time of two weeks is observed. The processing of requests for guided tours with a desired date after mid-September may be delayed for capacity reasons. The booking of a guided tour is binding. We will forward your request to a team of independent art mediators. We will provide you with a guide who will act on their own account. Cancellations must be made directly to the guide at least three working days before the agreed start of the tour. Otherwise, the guides reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.

Note for school classes

In addition to the 90-minute guided tours, school classes only have the option of booking short tours (60 minutes). Please indicate the desired topic (similar to the regular booking topics) in the comments field. We would like to point out that these are standard guided tours and not offers specially tailored to the target group of young people / schools. The Bavarian Museum Education Center offers guided tours and workshops for children and school groups.
