Description

The spectrum of materials used in sculpture has expanded enormously since the 1950s. Artists quickly adopted new products and the materials. In the exhibition, for example, we encounter sculptures made of pantyhose, various plastics, and candy. Where do these materials come from? What do they mean? And: Will sculpture dematerialize in the digital age? The guided tour explores the link between art and technology and sheds light on their production contexts. The tour has been designed especially for visually impaired and blind people, and is open to all.

Once a month, on Thursday, 6.30 p.m., we invite you to join us for a one-hour tactile tour of the special exhibition “Future Bodies from a Recent Past—Sculpture, Technology, and the Body since the 1950s.” During the tour, we touch and feel shapes, materials, and surfaces together, and listen to or sense how the works manifest themselves in the space beyond sight. We are also happy to share our visual impressions of the works in order to create a dialogue with the other sensory experiences. The tour is included in the price of admission.

The art education program accompanying the special exhibition "Future Bodies from a Recent Past" was developed as part of “dive in. Programme for Digital Interactions” of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation) with funding by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) through the NEUSTART KULTUR programme.

The program was also generously supported by PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne e.V.
