Description

Does art always have to represent something? Is it possible to tell a story through pictures? In this workshop, families playfully approach the works of the US artist Cy Twombly.

Together we will immerse ourselves in his language of form and color, before screen-printing tote bags. We will arrange Twombly’s rose motifs (2008) and an excerpt from his “Lepanto” cycle (2001) into new stories. In the 1950s, Andy Warhol was one of the first to discover the screen-printing process for his art. It allowed artists to print and reproduce photographic motifs in detail on canvas. To do this, a stencil is made from a photographic template, which looks like a framed, flat screen. Paint is then pressed through the screen onto the canvas, reproducing the photographic motif.
