Description
SCREEN PRINTING WORKSHOP
In this workshop you will learn about the technique of screen printing, a technique also sometimes used by Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. In the workshop, we will explore how the artists did this.
You can try out how screen printing works at various stations. Using scissors and paper, you will first create your print template: stars, figures, letters—or whatever you can think of. These pieces of paper are arranged on the print sheet. An open screen is then placed on top and the ink is pressed through it with a special tool, the squeegee: your screen print is finished!
Paper is provided. You are also welcome to bring a shirt, a cloth bag, a dress or other fabrics. Please note that our inks adhere best to natural fibers.
The workshop will take place in the ticket-free area of the Factory space (lower level) and is run by the artist Matt Wiegele. Born in Munich, he explored the city and its subculture with his skateboard. He played in various bands, graduated from college, worked in advertising for a few years and was a founding member and creative head of unitedskateboardartists. Since then he has been involved with independent art and cultural projects and was instrumental in the award-winning, EU-funded project “What’s The Deal?” He currently works with screen printing, objects and spaces.

Changing techniques and themes entice you to take part in varied artistic projects, and to stroll through the exhibitions.
