Description

PICTURES OF PEOPLE – EXPLORE USING PHOTOGRAPHY

Every day we take photos of ourselves and send them to friends. To ensure they show precisely what we want them to, we use filters and other tools. But how does this change how we see ourselves and others? Can a person be captured in a picture? What is authentic when only the apparently nice side of our lives and our selves is visible through posed images? What is private, when we present ourselves almost everywhere, in almost every situation? Do we become superficial, a mere projection surface?

The artists in our collection were also concerned with capturing images of people. After viewing the exhibition “This Is Me, This Is You. The Eva Felten Photo Collection” together, we will ourselves try to understand the limits of the recognizable and create an “image” of ourselves or other participants, or else to tell our own story through a picture. To this end we will experiment with photography and analog filters.

The workshop will be run by photographer Ekaterina Skerleva, who studied photo design at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. One focus of her work is portraiture.

THE OPEN FACTORY

Every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., the intergenerational drop-in format “Open Factory” provides the right setting to get creative with the whole family or with friends. Changing techniques and themes entice you to take part in varied artistic projects, and to stroll through the exhibitions. Whether drawing, painting, using different printing techniques or dancing, whether analog, digital or hybrid—we will take you into the world of colors and shapes and appeal to your imagination and creative spirit.

MORE FACTORY

You’ll find more information about our artists and artwork in our digital creative lab: Factory. There you can explore creative projects to do at home and many other workshops and guided tours for your next museum visit.
