Description
(K)not only a bag
Together, we’ll weave unique bags from old fabrics.
People carry stories and experiences within them, as do places and objects. The artists Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Leyla Yenirce, Hêlîn Alas, and Cana Bilir-Meier work in different ways with archives, memories, and personal stories.
In the tradition of craftivism, we’ll come together and explore the macramé knotting technique. Together, we’ll weave new bags from old fabrics. You’ll learn how, for example, an old T-shirt can be turned into a shopping bag. While weaving, we’ll have the opportunity to share our own experiences. And this new bag will then be ready to carry future experiences, in the spirit of the exhibition “Carrying.”
The workshop will take place in the Lounge (upper level) and is run by the photographer Verena Hägler.
The Open Factory
Every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., the intergenerational drop-in format “Open Factory” provides the right setting to get creative with the whole family or with friends. Changing techniques and themes entice you to take part in varied artistic projects, and to stroll through the exhibitions. Whether drawing, painting, using different printing techniques or dancing, whether analog, digital or hybrid—we will take you into the world of colors and shapes and appeal to your imagination and creative spirit.
