INDIRECT PORTRAIT

In this workshop, we will explore Roni Horn’s work “You are the Weather” using photographic methods and considerations. Using photographic finger exercises, we will think about how we can portray a person without showing their face.

 

After all, a portrait of a person need not necessarily show their face. Perhaps the person wants to remain anonymous. Or you may decide that it is more exciting and meaningful to photograph and combine different aspects of a person: their hand, their hair, their bag, their shoes, their phone, their wallet, a detail of their favorite pose.

 

The workshop will take place in the Lounge (upper level) and will be run by photographer Verena Hägler. She studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts and works as a freelance photographer at the interface of documentary, conceptual and subjective photography. THE OPEN FACTORY

Every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., the intergenerational drop-in format “Open Factory” provides the right setting to get creative with the whole family or with friends. Changing techniques and themes entice you to take part in varied artistic projects, and to stroll through the exhibitions. Whether drawing, painting, using different printing techniques or dancing, whether analog, digital or hybrid—we will take you into the world of colors and shapes and appeal to your imagination and creative spirit.
