Description

In the digital Pop-Up Factory we playfully explore the things that surround us in and around Museum Brandhorst. Following an introduction to the online collection, families can get creative in small, practical workshops and chat to our team about art and artists.

The artist Cy Twombly was very interested in history. In his largest work, which is also the largest work of art in Museum Brandhorst, he addressed an important naval battle. It took place almost 500 years ago, and – as so often – it was about power. At the time there was a battle for power in the Mediterranean. Power also means strength. Who was the stronger in this battle, and why? We not only dive into history together, but also examine how an artist depicts the topic 500 years later. In this way, we not only get to know history, but also Cy Twombly. Then it’s your turn: using only color, line, and form, put your own “power” on paper.
