Description
Artworks in museums usually hang framed on the wall or stand on pedestals. However US artist Louise Lawler—currently represented in the presentation of the collection—takes a look behind the scenes. She shows works by well-known artists, such as "Round Marilyn" (1962) by Andy Warhol, when they are not yet on view in the museum. Here is where the work of museum conservators begins, work that usually remains hidden from us. On a tour of the collection, Isabel Gebhardt, senior conservator at Museum Brandhorst, will explain how artworks are created, how they are transferred to the museum, and what tasks their materiality and preservation entail.
