Museum Brandhorst welcomes Ed Ruscha, one of the most important artists in its collection, to the next installment of #MBMeetTheArtist - a new series of conversations between curators and artists. On September 21, Ruscha joins curator Giampaolo Bianconi for a conversation with a special focus on two rare works in the Museum’s collection: his only two films, “Premium” (1971, 16 mm, 24 mins.) and “Miracle” (1975, 16 mm, 28 mins.). Working since the 1960s, Ruscha’s paintings, prints, drawings, and artist’s books are recognized for their deadpan wit and emphasis on language and landscape. His works form one of the pillars of the Brandhorst collection.
Free and accessible to all via the Museum’s Instagram channel @museumbrandhorst, the conversations offer a rare and intimate opportunity for the public to hear casual conversations between artists and curators: #MBMeetTheArtist. Topics range from the artists past works, upcoming projects, and how they have continued working during the radically changed circumstances of the global pandemic. The public also has an opportunity to engage and ask questions. These casual and easygoing conversations are offered to engage the public with some of the key artists in the Museum’s collection, and also provide an opportunity that so many of us have missed during the past year: to catch up with friends.
