Description

In Nicole Eisenman’s work we encounter dazzling figures with whimsical names: “Were-Artist,” “Econ Prof,” “Sleeping Frat Guy,” “Lady with Saggy Titties” ... The figures in her paintings swim, kiss, stand in front of a screen or fly drones; her sculptures pull a cart or snooze. The virtuously designed bodies simultaneously question seemingly stable identities and put them to the test. The visual language allows for ambiguous perceptions. As strange as these figures seem to us at first, they invite us to identify with them or at least to understand them. Our guided tour takes this as an opportunity to ask whether, in the end, we do not all find ourselves in Nicole Eisenman’s figures.

Our themed tours invite visitors to explore together particular aspects of our exhibitions or individual artistic practice. They provide an inspiring start to every Thursday evening and enable exchange and dialog among an interesting group of people.
