Description

The Museum Brandhorst houses one of the most important collections of contemporary art in Germany and offers a multifaceted overview of artistic production from the present day. Behind its multi-colored façade, visitors can currently see works by Andy Warhol, Rineke Dijkstra, Laura Owens, and many others. Highlights include the Roses gallery and the “Lepanto” cycle by American artist Cy Twombly, displayed in a space created especially for the series.
The exhibition “Long Story Short” invites night owls on a journey through the history of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present. Works that have never been shown before and new acquisitions enter into an exciting dialog with the musuem´s icons.
With “Carrying” the museum extends its exhibition space beyond its walls and activates various spaces inside and outside Museum Brandhorst. International artists occupy historically charged sites – such as Cy Twombly’s “Lepanto” room or the so-called “Türkentor” (Turks´ Gate).
