Description

Museum Brandhorst houses one of the most important collections of contemporary art in Germany and offers a multifaceted overview of artistic production from the 1960s to the present. Behind its colorful façade, works by Andy Warhol, Kerstin Brätsch, Roni Horn, Franz West, and an impressive selection of pieces by American artist Cy Twombly are currently on view. Among the highlights of this unique collection are the Roses Gallery and the monumental "Lepanto" cycle, which is displayed in a gallery designed specifically for it.

The monumental "Lepanto" cycle (2001) is considered one of Twombly’s major works. The paintings address one of the most symbolically charged naval battles in world history. In 2008, Twombly created his rose paintings specifically for Museum Brandhorst. The six large-format works, titled "Untitled (Roses)," incorporate fragments of poetry and unfold a powerful effect in the Roses Gallery, where painting, architecture, and poetry merge into a singular experience.

Sneak Peek: For one night, you have the opportunity to view the exhibition "Confrontations. Pairings from the Collection" a few days before its official opening.
