Description
INDIRECT PORTRAIT
In this workshop, we will explore Roni Horn’s work “You are the Weather” using photographic methods and considerations. Using photographic finger exercises, we will think about how we can portray a person without showing their face.
After all, a portrait of a person need not necessarily show their face. Perhaps the person wants to remain anonymous. Or you may decide that it is more exciting and meaningful to photograph and combine different aspects of a person: their hand, their hair, their bag, their shoes, their phone, their wallet, a detail of their favorite pose.
The workshop will take place in the ticket-free area of the Factory space (lower level) and is run by photographer Verena Hägler. She studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts and works as a freelance photographer at the interface of documentary, conceptual and subjective photography. She has long been involved in empirical urban research and recently published RAND (Spector Books, 2022). She teaches at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and elsewhere.
