Description

The workshop “Zine Up Your Life!” invites students, zine enthusiasts, and the curious to experiment and collaborate with the works of Warhol and Haring while creating their own publications. In addition to an in-depth, dialogic tour of the exhibition, there will be two workshop days featuring visits to local institutions.

With “Andy Warhol & Keith Haring: Party of Life”, Museum Brandhorst presents the world’s first comprehensive institutional exhibition dedicated to both artists. The exhibition title draws from Keith Haring's birthday celebration theme, “Party of Life,” evoking the 1980s world of MTV, discos, voguing, hip-hop, new wave, and graffiti. Within this context, the exhibition explores Warhol and Haring's artistic friendship. Featuring over 130 works, it highlights parallels in their artistic identities, openness to collaboration and group projects, and a shared vision: art should be accessible and reach as many people as possible.

After earning degrees in art education, pedagogy, and German studies, Schmidt studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, completing as a master student. Schmidt then spent several years in New York City, where they completed an MFA (New Genres concentration) at CUNY Hunter College.
