Description
Nicole Eisenman’s figurative paintings reference visual traditions ranging from European painting to comics and pop culture in an almost anarchic way. Moving between homage and critique, they humorously depict relationships and social conflicts with a contemporary, human perspective. Deana Lawson’s photographic portraits present images of Black communities. She stages her photographs meticulously and with technical precision, exploring—together with her subjects—both individuality and collective history. Her images convey intimacy, presence, and self-determination, renewing historical forms of representation.
