Description
Wolfgang Tillmans’ “Buchholz & Buchholz Installation 1993” (1993) combines his own photographs, photocopies, and magazine pages into a dense visual fabric that perfectly mirrors the presentation of his first solo exhibition at a Cologne gallery of the same name. We thus experience a room within a room, whose seemingly random distribution of images opens up a historical perspective from today’s point of view. Martine Syms, born in 1988, goes even further, reflecting on the digital omnipresence of images and not only visually representing found and experienced elements but also incorporating (usable) objects into the spatial effect. In both cases, we examine the circulation of the images and their media-based processing within their context.
