Artworks in museums hang on walls, stand on pedestals and usually appear immaculate. This is as true for centuries-old objects as it is for contemporary art. But why does recent art, which has only just left the artist’s studio, already need conservation care? The work of conservators of contemporary art usually remains hidden from museum visitors. On the occasion of the 6th European Day of Conservation-Restoration, we invite you to a dialogical tour through the Museum Brandhorst collection, tell you about the challenges of caring for and restoring contemporary works, and answer your questions.
