What happens behind the scenes before an exhibition opens its doors? How do artworks make their way into the museum? How are they installed, and what role do conservators play in the process?
To mark European Day of Conversation-Restoration, this year’s theme, „Up Close,“ offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the installation of the new exhibition „In My Head,“ ahead of its official opening at Museum Brandhorst on October 29.
Christina Hierl, Senior Conservator at Museum Brandhorst and at the Doerner Institut, takes you behind the scenes into the galleries where the exhibition is currently taking shape. Along the way, you’ll gain special insights into the installation process, the work of a conservator, and the many small details that are essential to presenting an artwork.
