Description

How can art function as a critique of property and ownership? Cameron Rowland (*1988) joins Museum Brandhorst for a talk and conversation rooted in their artistic practice. Derived from a specific focus on the functions of racial capitalism, Rowland’s work has developed new strategies that engage critically with ownership and labor in the production and distribution of art. Their works always include analytic texts that treat the contextualization of the work as an integral component of the work. Rowland’s works distinguish themselves as much by their formal strategies as by their discursive force. Rowland's work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles;  Galerie Buchholz, Cologne, Germany; Établissement d'en face, Brussels; Kunsthalle Freiburg, Switzerland; Artists Space, New York and Essex Street / Maxwell Graham, New York.

Museum Brandhorst and its facilities are accessible to wheelchair users. Live translation (EN-DE) and German Sign Language (DGS) are available for the event.
