Description
Even in the title, “Carrying” refers to how places carry certain stories. This exhibition and event project activates various spaces inside and outside of Museum Brandhorst. International artists, including Hêlîn Alas, Cana Bilir-Meier, Louise Lawler, Kate Newby, Tiffany Sia, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Leyla Yenirce, occupy historically charged locations—such as Cy Twombly’s “Lepanto” Hall or the “Türkentor.” Architectural interventions, performances, paintings, but also sound and filmic works enter into a dialogue with the museum and examine the entanglement of military and cultural power.
