Description

A fascinating look behind the scenes: What do a brush, a scalpel, a microscope, and chocolate syrup have in common? Are all of these really part of a conservator’s toolkit in a contemporary art museum?

Join Ema Gerliciová, scientific trainee at the Doerner Institute and part of the Conservation Department at Museum Brandhorst. She specializes in Old Masters as well as modern and contemporary painting and will take you on a tour of our exhibitions “Long Story Short” and “Confrontations.”

During this tour, Ema Gerliciová will show how contemporary art presents new challenges for conservation. Learn more about traditional painting techniques and multipart works involving light, plastics, synthetic materials, and everyday objects that were never designed to last.

The tour will be conducted in English.
