Alexandra Bircken studied and taught fashion design in London at a time when unusual innovations by John Galliano or Alexander McQueen and the deconstructions by Martin Margiela were causing a stir in the world of fashion. Alexandra Bircken’s exploration of bodies and their shells continued in her artistic development. She assembles highly disparate objects and materials to create unique sculptures that redefine form, proportion, and balance in space. Meret Oppenheim, Louise Bourgeois and Robert Morris are artists whose thematic content is related to Alexandra Bircken’s art.
In Cooperation with Münchner Volkshochschule (MVHS).
