Description

After university or work, we invite you to a stimulating hour at Museum Brandhorst. On each occasion, we invite people from different social backgrounds to come and look at a work of art from a very personal and more or less unusual perspective. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the focus is on a shared exchange of views in front of the works, which can be continued in the Café im Zebra with music and drinks, as desired.

Our guest today, Nick Trachte, is the founder and operator of Boxwerk München and Vice President of the Bavarian Boxing Association . As a meeting place for very different people, cultural and social aspects play an important role at Boxwerk. Physicality, the mind, technique and tactics are the pillars in the art of boxing. We will talk about “Boxer Rebellion” (2020) by Arthur Jafa, contrasting the motif of this work with the frequent reduction of boxing to the aspect of victory or defeat, aggression and brutality.
