Description

Once a month we invite a special guest to give a talk and open up new perspectives on art. Whether after university or work, or simply to get in the mood for the evening: selected works or themes from our current exhibitions are combined with personal impressions and experiences—first in front of the artworks, then afterwards in a relaxed atmosphere in the café.

On the occasion of the exhibition “Nicole Eisenman. What Happened” we look forward to welcoming guests from the LGBTIQ* community. Many of Nicole Eisenman’s works invoke the experiences of queer people in New York. Will we find connections with the scene in Munich? The Forum Queeres Archiv (Queer Archive Forum) was established here in 1999, collecting and communicating testimonies to the everyday life, culture, and history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer people. Members of the association will design our after-work series and present works by Nicole Eisenman from their perspective. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the association at the talk in the café afterwards.

Berti Gammenthaler has been active in the Munich lesbian scene since the late 1980s; for example she was involved in the women’s/lesbian pub “Die Nümfe.” She was an ensemble member of the lesbian theatre groups “Mamas und Piranhas” and “Strictly Borderline.” Her professional path has been varied and interesting, from master gilder to office all-rounder. She has managed the office of the Forum Queeres Archiv München since 2019.
