Description

The first sculptures by Alexandra Bircken were crocheted from a solid string. The artist gave the material such stability that the textile no longer needed a body as a support in order to be sculptural. From then on, Bircken frequently used fabric as a sculptural medium in her practice. In this workshop we will try out for ourselves the use of textiles as sculptural material with crochet hooks and knitting needles. If needed, the figures can be supplemented using other materials, such as twigs or plaster.

No prior experience necessary.
