Maria Muhle

Information about the person

Maria Muhle is Professor of Philosophy I Aesthetic Theory at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 2007 she was awarded her doctorate for her thesis “Eine Genealogie der Biopolitik. Zum Begriff des Lebens bei Foucault und Canguilhem.“ From 2014 to 2020 she was sub-project leader in the DFG Research Unit “Media and Mimesis.” Since 2014, she has been a member of the advisory board of the German Society for Aesthetics. Since 2017, she has been a P.I. at the International Doctoral Program “Mimesis” at LMU Munich. From March to May 2018, she was a fellow at the research group “BildEvidenz” at the FU Berlin. She is co-founder and publisher of August Verlag Berlin. Since spring 2020, she has been a member of the DFG Research Training Group “Media Anthropology” at Bauhaus University Weimar.
